Following the first ever parliamentary debate on fatty liver disease which took place on October 28th the British Liver Trust is continuing to keep liver health front of mind at Westminster.
Our team worked with Lorraine Beavers MP, Co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on an article about liver cancer. The piece addresses the fact that, while progress is being made in tackling many forms of cancer, deaths from liver cancer have increased by 50% in the last decade, and almost half of these deaths are preventable. The article also points out that deprived communities are disproportionately affected and reiterated our calls for improved surveillance and better detection pathways for liver disease.
We’re delighted to report that the article has secured prominent coverage on politics.co.uk, the leading free digital magazine for UK politics, and can be read in full here
We’re grateful to Lorraine for working with us to bring the stark facts about one of the UK’s fastest rising and least survivable cancers to the attention of policy makers. More information on liver cancer here.
