Energy drinks can cause problems for liver patients

The Trust Chief Executive, Andrew Langford, went on the record last week commenting to the BBC on a widely reported story which suggested a role for energy drinks in the development of hepatitis.

Andrew explained that energy drinks offer no nutritional benefit and that drinking too many of them can have a detrimental effect on liver health. Pointing out that the patient already had a pre-existing liver condition, he highlighted the need for a healthy diet and lifestyle in maintaining liver health.
