Political campaigning

We engage with politicians across the UK and in the devolved parliaments to raise awareness of liver disease and advocate for changes in policy to improve liver disease outcomes. A key focus of our current work is on improving the early detection of liver disease through our ‘make early diagnosis routine’ work.

We also raise awareness of liver disease with political stakeholders and campaign for improvements in treatment and care.

We manage an ongoing outreach programme, where we brief politicians on a one-to-one bases to increase awareness and better understand the issues around liver disease and seek their support for our policy calls to government and the NHS. We also run the Cross Party Group on liver disease and liver cancer in the Senedd, hold debates and events and respond to consultations.

We launched our short report – Time to act on liver health – after the July General Election. The report can be found here and captures our key policy recommendations for the new Government to improve outcomes for liver disease and liver cancer patients.
