We know that many of the people we support take part in the British Transplant Games so we’re delighted that, for the first time, the British Liver Trust is going to be one of the sponsors of this year’s event which takes place in Nottingham from August 1–4.
Established over 40 years ago, the Games are a wonderful example of how organ donation saves and transforms lives. Taking place in different host cities every summer, the event see teams from hospitals across the UK come together to compete in a medley of sports. It attracts around 1000 transplant athletes of all ages, many of whom go on to compete in the World Transplant Games.
Our colleagues at Children’s Liver Disease Foundation have attended the Games for several years so we’re excited that we too will have the chance to meet up with some of our supporters and cheer them on in their quest for medals!
It is undoubtedly a unique occasion, and its essence is beautifully described here by Monica and Donna, two British Liver Trust supporters and Transplant Games competitors.
Some of you who are taking part have kindly shared your stories with us here:

So whether you are competing in the Games or supporting someone who is, if you spot someone sporting the British Liver Trust or Children’s Liver Disease Foundation logos, do come and say hello. We’d love to see you!
