World Liver Day 2025

World Liver Day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the liver, the largest internal organ in the body, which performs 500 different functions, including breaking down food and converting it into energy, storing essential vitamins and iron and combating infections.

This year’s theme is Food is Medicine, highlighting how what we eat and drink can directly impact liver health and function That’s why we’re shining a spotlight on the importance of a balanced diet

When someone is overweight, fat can build up in their liver. This causes metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), which is closely linked to being overweight as well as conditions such as type 2 diabetes and heart and circulatory disease.
