Pamela Healy OBE, the British Liver Trust Chief Executive, has announced that she will retire later this year from this full time role after more than seven years of dedicated leadership.
During her tenure, Pamela has led the charity through a period of significant growth and transformation, strengthening our position as the UK’s leading liver health charity and a trusted national voice on liver disease. Under her leadership, the organisation has expanded its reach, improved its long‑term financial resilience, and deepened its support for people affected by liver disease across the UK.
Reflecting on her decision, Pamela said:
“It has been a privilege to lead this organisation and to work alongside such a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, clinicians and supporters. Every day, I see the difference we make through expert information, compassionate support and our determination to see liver health treated as a national priority.”
Pamela has championed a strong focus on early diagnosis, prevention and access to better treatment, while ensuring that people feel supported at every stage of their journey with liver disease. Following the merger with the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, the charity now supports people of all ages through a single, stronger national organisation—amplifying our impact and our voice.

Pamela will oversee a planned and orderly transition to ensure continuity and stability as the charity enters its next phase. With liver disease remaining one of the fastest‑growing and most under‑recognised health challenges in the UK, the Trustees will now begin the search for a new Chief Executive to build on this momentum and lead the organisation forward.
