The British Liver Trust is once again taking part in the UK’s biggest match funding campaign, the Big Give’s Christmas Challenge 2021.
Now in its 14th year, the Christmas Challenge launches at midday on Tuesday 30th November and runs for just seven days, until midday Thursday 7th December. For one week only, all participating charities will see supporters’ donations matched, doubling the impact of their gifts.
We are aiming to raise a total of £15,000 during the week, if we can achieve this, the funds will be doubled to £30,000.
All funds make a huge difference to our work, helping the charity’s helpline and support services for people affected by any kind of liver condition. The helpline is a lifeline for patients and families, the online community helps 24 hours a day and the support groups empower patients, giving them the confidence to manage their illness. Additional funds will also help improve our online services, from launching virtual webinars and publications to offering nationwide online support groups.
Chief Executive of the British Liver Trust, Pamela Healy OBE, emphasises the invaluable impact of Big Give, “We’re thrilled to be part of the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2021. This year, more than ever, this is a brilliant opportunity for our supporters to make their donations go further and for us to reach and support even more people affected by liver disease and liver cancer.”
Our mission is to make a difference nationwide
During what has been yet another challenging year, we have seen thousands come to us for advice and support.
Phil was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2020 and used the British Liver Trust’s nurse-led helpline. He says: “After my diagnosis, I called the helpline to speak to the liver nurses. I like talking to them, it does me good.
“They don’t have to care, but they do. They give me encouragement and strength. It’s unbelievable strength they give me. I know I can call them at any time and talk to them about anything – the journey I am on, the next steps. They are five-star angels.”
If you’d like to help us support more people like Phil, please consider making a donation during Big Give week, doubling your donation and your impact. Thank you.
