The British Liver Trust is proud to announce its partnership with the Rotary e-Club of Organ Donation UK, under the Rotary Club of Great Britain and Ireland as its first corporate member. This exciting collaboration underscores a shared commitment to promoting the life-saving impact of organ donation and the need for people to join the organ donor register and share their wishes with their families. The partnership will also enable the Trust to promote the importance of liver health among the large numbers of Rotary club members, further expanding awareness and engagement in this critical area.
The Rotary e-Club of Organ Donation UK is a virtual Rotary club that meets online monthly, bringing together individuals from across Great Britain and Ireland, including transplant recipients, living donors, and senior medical professionals specialising in organ donation. Since its formation in late 2024, the club has been dedicated to raising awareness, increasing donor registrations, and advocating for those in need of transplants.
The British Liver Trust is the UK’s leading liver health charity, working to improve liver health for all and supporting those affected by liver disease or cancer. Speaking about the new partnership, Audrey Cornelius, Director of Fundraising at the British Liver Trust stated: “We are thrilled to become the first corporate partner of the Rotary e-Club of Organ Donation. Organ donation UK saves and transforms lives, and working together allows us to reach a larger audience with our message. Liver disease is a growing public health crisis in the UK, and for many people with end-stage liver failure, a transplant is their only hope.”
The e-Club’s mission aligns closely with the Trust’s work to promote organ donation, particularly in increasing awareness among communities where the need for organ donation is most urgent. The club actively works to improve understanding of organ donation in South Asian, Caribbean and African communities, where genetic factors often increase the demand for transplants, yet donation rates remain lower than average.
Through its corporate membership, the British Liver Trust will also gain access to new communication channels and networking opportunities. Rotary International is the world’s largest service membership organisation with over 1.2 million members in 200 countries and geographical locations.
